Financial Cycles: Causes and Consequences

We documented that while the administrations used different combinations of prosperity enhancers, there was a common element to their policy mixes. Low inflation, trade expansion and increased incentives in the form of broadly defined tax rates were the order of the day more often than not. The interaction among these prosperity enhancers created a favorable economic environment. In effect by looking back we found what worked. The next step in our analysis is to find out what does not work.
