The State of the Union and Middle-Class Economics

The president is clear in what he wants: more income redistribution, a larger public sector, higher domestic spending, and higher tax rates. Looking back at the last few years, the analysis presented here suggests that such policies produced a sub-par recovery, did not improve income inequality, allowed for the wealthier Americans to repair their balance sheet, and little or no progress has been made on the real median income front.
