Around the World in 90 Days: Part III
July 07, 2015
The U.S. and Japan were caught off-guard when European countries agreed to join China’s new Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, AIIB. The U.S. has opposed the bank’s creation and appears to have been caught off-guard when U.S. allies—Britain, Germany, Australia, and South Korea—signed up for the bank and became founding members, in spite of the U.S. warning that the Chinese would cut corners on environmental, social, and anti-corruption standards.
