Doing nothing is not an option for Republicans. Doing nothing will lead to failure. In the process, the Republicans could lose the majority in one of the legislative chambers or possibly both chambers during the midterm election and then the White House in 4 years. Doing nothing is all downside with little or no upside. On the other hand, doing something could generate significant upside if things work out.
