The economic slowdown has everyone focused on the rate actions of the Federal Reserve and the administration's call for a personal income tax rate cut. Both measures have been pitched as insurance against an economic slowdown, at least they have by the esteemed Chairman of the Federal Reserve. But listen closely and you also hear the notion that monetary policy is superior to tax rate cuts in revitalizing the economy in the short run.
