An issue that confronts all of us is how to forecast the response to policy initiatives, economic and political disturbances. One way to do so is to look back at instances where similar disturbances have occurred and with that information one can get a sense of what is the response. When multiple disturbances or policy initiatives coincide, the look back makes it difficult to find episodes that replicate the combination, but when we do it can generate a sense e of Déjà vu. We find ourselves in such a situation . The current conditions today feel much like the 1970’s.
