Critics of the administration accuse President Trump of being an autocratic wannabe dictator and a dirigiste on economic policy. The implication being that this administration is much more autocratic and dirigiste than the previous administrations. Would a comparison to the preceding administration reaffirm this presumption? We contend that many of the policies adopted, in principle, are not much different than those of the preceding administrations.
