The Size Selector

December 21, 1999

The forecast for next quarter suggests that large-caps will out-perform mid-cap stocks. The odds of large caps out-performing small caps is approximately even. In turn, small-cap stocks are expected to outperform mid-caps (though we have the least confidence in this forecast due to the quality of historical mid-cap data). The investment implication of our estimates is fairly clear: Increase portfolio exposure to the class whose probability to outperform is greatest.
