Looking Ahead: 1999, A Year of Transitions?

As 1998 comes to an end with a strong economy showing only intermittent signs of weakness, a stock market that weathered a mid-year slump only to rise some 26% for the year, a rather headstrong-and confident-president who has been impeached by the House likely to face a trial in the Senate, and with heightened international tensions, 1999 could very easily be a year of transitions. The economy may run out of steam, the markets could tank, Al Gore could conceivably take the nations reins, and Iraqi problems could spread. But, even with all these unknowns, we're quite bullish and look for a good 1999.
