A recent Wall Street Journal article noted with some surprise a positive correlation between the stock market and the foreign-exchange value of the dollar. While it may astonish some; the relationship is exactly what we would expect. The rising stock market and strong dollar are a reflection of the same phenomena: rising rates of return in the U.S. relative to the rest of the world.
