Industrial Production Outlook

October 21, 2002

At the beginning of the third quarter we believed the quarterly rate of increase in the industrial production index was going to increase by 2.12% (Row 1, Column 2). The actual quarterly increase was slightly lower than our expectations at 0.13% (Row 1, Column 4). Nonetheless, as forecast, the year-over-year change did turn positive albeit at an anemic 1.45% rate of increase (Row 1, Column 3).
