Our view that the small cap effect is due to inflation hedging, tax sheltering and regulation skirting bodes well for the large cap stocks if you believe that the Fed is on a price rule. The Fed injected plenty of liquidity into the system in the aftermath of September 11. However, recent data shows that the liquidity injection was temporary and just necessary to insure the functioning of the financial markets.
