There is considerable unanimity as to the causes of the subprime meltdown. There is also a consensus emerging as to the effect of the meltdown on the economy. Recent market behavior is a good example that can be used to focus on how an investor may protect himself from asset contagion and the market meltdown. In the process it will bring to the forefront some asset allocation issues that we have been talking about during the last few years.
