Rising Commodity Prices, Smoke Signals

One view argues that the rising prices are a harbinger of inflation to come. Another view argues that a commodity price increase is equivalent to a tax increase. The third view is quite different; it argues that the rising prices are a bullish sign. It is obvious that the rising prices means different things to different people, the question is why?
