The End Does Not Justify the Means

Good economic policy is good politics and the end does not justify the means. We are against the steel protection as well as all the pork to which the President is signing on. Bush should return to his political agenda. His original instincts were right: good economics makes good politics. It is a mistake to sacrifice principles in favor of political expediency.
