The Debt Ceiling and Spending Debate: Facts and Fallacies

Much has been said about the influence of the tea party and how they have won because they shifted the political debate towards spending cuts and no tax increases. However, as we listened to President Obama’s announcement of the deal, that was not clear to us. He gave the impression that taxes are on the table for the recommendations of the special commission later on this year. If that is the case, the tea party did not win that one.
