The Wall Street Journal’s Forecasting Survey

In the latest survey, the economists still see a slow and steady recovery in the offing. The biggest obstacle to their forecast appears to be the possible contagion related to a downturn in Europe. The results of the November election could also have an effect on the forecast, as businesses may be forced to react to a fiscal shock, specifically large spending cuts and automatically enacted tax increases.
