Some argue that the decline in global trade is a direct result of the global economic slowdown. We also know that slower growth is also commonly associated with a rise in protectionism. We should not be surprised to see a rise of protectionist pressures. Argentina is involved in several trade issues. The US, India, and China are involved in a dispute over steel. Recently Brazil announced that it would raise tariffs on 100 products.
